The photo was taken in Dec 2014, I was on the Coastal Pacific train returning to Picton to catch a ferry back to Wellington. It was a two hours journey from Kaikoura to Picton, it was so scenic that I ended up spending most of the time standing on the viewing platform. 馃槄聽
Unfortunately, the earthquakes in November 2016 caused extensive damage to the rail line between Blenheim and Kaikoura. Heard that the service will resume sometime in mid-2018.
