I actually very much gravitate towards interspersing comedy with heavy/scary/earnest storytelling.

I find that comedy is a great way to make your characters likeable, which is one of the single most important things you can do for good horror storytelling.

Stephen King often talks about horror vs terror, horror is just the monster or gore or thing that makes the reader uncomfortable, but terror is what you feel when you really like a character and REALLY afraid something bad is going to happen to them.

So here's to hoping that my comedy leads to terror haha
