Mookie and the girls (Margaret and Hazel) split up in Issue 2, but finally in Issue 5 we start to push the characters back together.
From a writer's perspective, splitting the group up was really important because it is SO hard to provide adequate character development for 7 characters simultaneously. Splitting them up allowed me to give each character time for their personality to shine. I've mentioned it before, but I have so much respect for Stranger Things on Netflix. It's amazing how many characters they successfully juggle.
