Yeah the smell is a big issue for a lot of people. Anyone who doesn't like cannabis users knows what it smells like, and they love to sniff us out and try to harass us. Imagine if weed wasn't stinky? Then what would those nasty losers do? :P
Where I live now I don't worry about smell. I have a little house, and only 1 neighbor really. My garden is small and yeah the office smells a little during late flowering stage, but the house itself doesn't smell much, and it certainly would never be detectable by anyone else. In the past, I've had situations where I just couldn't grow, because of the smell. That would be the only thing that could stop me, I think. My wife and I have mainly rented, for 10+ years now in various places, so we know what it's like to dodge anti-canna-crusaders who think they are doing the right thing by attacking and hurting "pot heads". My wife will die without cannabis, and it keeps my PTSD at bay, so we take it very seriously as medicine. Anyone in our way needs to be educated, and we are happy to do so. They will not hear the end of it, until they either understand and accept it, or just get out of our way. It has caused problems a few times but what are you gonna do? Cower and let people decide what to put into your body or don't put into your body? Or stand up for yourself and your loved ones. I'm standing up. I know we all can only do what we're able, some have situations where they must be obedient and silent to survive, and I understand that. I just advocate that we all do as much as we can to resist bad laws, regulations, mandates, etc. Yeah I still have to hide my smelly plants from bigots who want to take them away and put me in a cage... but I fight however I can, whenever I can.
My wife and I have a fragment of Dutch DNA in us and we like to joke that it makes us feisty, thrifty, and weird :P No offense we think that part of the world and those people are excellent! And lots of good weed strains ;D
