Yeah, I used to drive all the time, but several years ago my license got taken away until I pay a debt my ex-wife claims I owe her. I can't afford to do that, so I can't drive. (I also lost my passport and my bank accounts for the same reason.) It makes life quite difficult, especially now that there's something wrong with my nerves. I miss driving. I had a van but without the ability to drive it, I gave it to a friend who used it for activism. My wife is crippled and can't drive. We moved from Vancouver a couple years ago to this smaller town, and that was one of the last times I was in a passenger vehicle. We don't know anyone here in this town except my family, who has ostracized us. We used to be able to take the bus, but after a 16 month long nonstop construction project, and months of lost sleep, our neighborhood is upgrade with 5G towers, and they removed the bus stop. So the bus still goes by (every 3 minutes) but we can't get on because the nearest stop is 3+ blocks away.
So we pretty much just walk, for groceries and baby needs. The lockdown has made that even harder than usual though.
Insurance is expensive and I don't like how driving a car gives cops a bigger chance to mess with you, but man... the convenience is huge!
And driving manual is always a blast :D
