Heh, I don't see games like that as adding any value to anything or anyone. Unless I'm missing something, those games produce nothing (other than entertainment), so "making money" that way doesn't fall within my ethics. It may be possible to accumulate currency like that, but I don't see it as moral, because not only does it not provide anything of real value, it does so at the expense of everyone else, because there is only so much "money" (currency) to go around, chasing the same amount of real things (like food). People "making" a lot of "money" at games like that are draining the system of currency (food) without adding anything. If everyone did that, society would collapse. It's not a sustainable strategy and it does harm to everyone else to advantage the ones pulling funds out like that. I don't apply my thinking to others, only myself. I wish more people saw things my way, but I can't force it on anyone, so I just try to lead by example. Normally I'm quiet about my stance unless it comes up in conversation.
"I'm guessing you invested that 0.2 BTC when the price of btc was lower or when steem price was high."
I take it you don't follow prices very closely! :P
The conditions you're describing have been in place since STEEM began 4 years ago. At no point in the past 4 years as the price of STEEM (or HIVE) increased, measured in BTC. It has been a nonstop constant 4 year slide, with no end in sight. That's why I caution people who are buying into this system. The currency itself is designed to lose value forever. More decimal places can always be added, so it can lose 80% every year, like it has been doing, forever. It will never hit zero, just add more decimal places, as it continues to lose more than half its price every year. People say "it has to turn around sometime" but that's not true, it doesn't. It can go down for the next 10000 years, and still have infinite more years to lose 80%. The magic of digital currency!
It has never been cheaper to buy into this blockchain using BTC (which is how 99.99% of people get into STEEM/HIVE, not buying them directly with dollars from the bank). That's what they said 3 years ago when I bought in and powered up to begin creating content and earning crypto. Hahahah. I have done many hours of work, every day for more than 1000 days without a break, and make documentaries and how to guides and many viral posts and series. I've made tens of thousands of dollars worth of STEEM and HIVE, but it has all been shrunk down (including my $5 grand worth of BTC) into $1200 worth of depreciating HIVE. And I see people buying into this blockchain all the time. There are powering up parties, where people get prizes for powering up the most. I keep telling people, the price has gone down every year since the beginning, through bull markets and bear markets. Don't buy now, I say. When, they ask? I don't know, but I was too early 3 years ago, and everybody since that time has been too early. The price is STILL falling against other cryptos. It's STILL better to stay out of Steem and Hive. And maybe it always will be. It's never been good to hold STEEM or HIVE (not even once in almost 5 years!) but people keep doing it anyway.
Yup, I bought (and earned) somewhere on that red line! As did everyone else. STEEM and HIVE are cheaper today than they have ever been before. In fact, I have dozens of posts named exactly that, posted every few months for 3 years straight. I said it when I bought, and I've been saying it nonstop ever since. It's ALWAYS the best time ever to buy blockchain tokens LOL

As for me, I have no way out. I'm unbanked and don't believe in giving up privacy or cooperating with banks/corps/govt to buy and sell things. I won't use a smart device or bank account. I live on cash, which has become incredibly hard, but I stick to my beliefs and wish others would do the same so it wasn't so tough on those of us who do. My funds are stuck here until the crypto world (IF the crypto world) becomes private and decentralized. Things seem to be moving away from that, so I'm a little discouraged and losing faith in crypto overall.
Basically, my morals limit me to earning funds for my content, and even though my content is sought after and high quality, that doesn't work and I have proved it.

So I remain unable to make a profit here, and also unable to leave. This has been the case for 3 years and I continue to find a remedy.
Meanwhile, I continue to create content so that I can at least reach a few people with my message, or at the very least record it for posterity so that it may someday reach people.
