Meh, hopefully the future is more private and less decentralized than this blockchain is. And hopefully the currency we earn doesn't lose 99% every year like it has the last 3.

Actually, if we use blockchain in the future, that's guaranteed! Because a currency that always loses all value put into it is doomed. Nobody wants something that ALWAYS goes down, which is the case for both Steem and Hive. I didn't realize that when I put 5 grand into this place, but now I understand. Just never ever put anything into Hive or Steem - only withdraw from it. That's what everybody else is doing, and that's why my 5000 and 3 years of nonstop work has been reduced to 1200. And that's why the 1200 will become 700 next year, then 400 the year after, and on toward zero the more time I invest here.

But there will always be an internet, regardless of the outcome of this failed experiment! Or will there? If the powers that be want it off, they'll shut it off. We know they've created that capability and given themselves that power.

Besides, it is almost completely censored now, and soon only state-verified information and discussion will be allowed. Anything allowing free speech will be shut down, even fully tracked forms of communication like blockchains.

The dream of privacy and decentralization remains a dream, and we're not ready for the total clampdown on freedom that's coming this decade.
