Hey everyone. What's good? I bring greetings from Nigeria 🇳🇬. What a pleasant day it is. I hope it's the same over there for you too. In fact, what a more pleasant day to write another post in this community. I'll be taking us down memory lane a little bit so we can remember just how old we are🙂. No, not that old. The cartoon I'd be writing about today is one which will definitely give you a touch of nostalgia, that is, if you've seen it before.

Ed, Edd n Eddy

Yup, it's Ed, Edd n Eddy. This is cartoon of which I'm happy to have watched as a kid. It has six seasons.

Ed, Edd n Eddy centers on the lives of three young boys (also called the Eds) named Ed, Edd (who is popularly known as Double D) and Eddy. The scene of most of the whole series is a cul-de-sac called Peach Creek where the Eds live together with some other kids namely, Kevin, Nazz, Jonny, Sarah, Jimmy, Rolf and the Kanker sisters, Lee, May and Marie (the female rivals of the Eds).

These three preteens do the wackiest things just to buy a kind of candy called jawbreaker. These jawbreakers are really huge, so huge that when it's in the characters' mouths, one of their cheeks bulge out so much. These jawbreakers cost only 25 cents. The irony of it all is that all the other characters—which we would soon take a look at—have the money to buy these jawbreakers. So, the Eds, led by their self-appointed leader Eddy, cook up new plans in each episode to try and dupe the other characters of their money so they can go buy jawbreakers. Even more, in each episode, disaster occurs and they fail, although there are only about one or two episodes where they actually buy jawbreakers.

The other kids in the cul-de-sac segregate themselves from the Eds because they just seem crazy to them. Another thing to point out is that throughout the whole series, no other character is seen apart from the Eds and the other kids mentioned above. We only see a different character—Eddy's adult brother which he always talks about—at the very last episode of the whole series. Rarely, we see shadows of adults and at times their hands or legs. For about 4 seasons of the series, the kids are on summer vacation which seems to never end. From season five, they are at times seen going to school.

The Characters:

Ed

Ed is a young boy and the workhouse of the Eds. Ed is like... what word am I looking for? Pain resistant. I mean, this guy doesn't feel any pain. Among the three Eds (and every other character in the whole series), he's the dumbest. He is known for making statements that don't make any sense and also laughing like goof. I can remember an episode he actually made a good point and Double D and Eddy were dumbfounded. They couldn't believe it.

Ed is undoubtedly a fans' favorite among the characters in the whole series because he adds a lot of comedy in all the episodes. Another thing about Ed is that he's the strongest character as he could lift a house. Well, of course, we expect that kind of combination—dumb and strong. He's also known for having stinky shoes and not taking a shower too often. I've noticed that each of the Eds have a different way they run. It's something you just can't miss. In Ed's case, he places his two arms behind him, leans backwards and just laughs while he runs unless he's in danger, then he screams.

Edd

Nobody actually calls him Edd. Popularly known as Double D, he's the smartest member among the Eds and also in the whole series. Edd is a clean freak who'll never want to engage in anything that would make him filthy. He moved into the cul-de-sac with his parents as a kid where he was immediately meet by Ed and Eddy. After Eddy asked him of his name and he replied "Edd, with two D's," he gave him the nickname Double D.

Edd spends a lot of time inventing stuff and reading science books. He also loves to keep things in perfect order. Edd is also not athletic nor strong at all and he gets scared most at times. Still, his love for jawbreakers is there and he joins Ed and Eddy in their schemes. One thing you can't miss is the black hat on Edd's head. Throughout the series, we never see his head without the hat on, although there was a time when his hat fell off and Ed and Eddy were surprised at what was underneath, but we weren't shown. Edd's own unique way of running is that he keeps his fists close to his chest and sorta walks very fast. Like I said, not athletic at all.

Eddy

Eddy is the third member and self-appointed leader of the Eds. Eddy is a greedy, short preteen boy who masterminds the schemes of the Eds to dupe the other kids. He loves money (makes me remember Mr. Krabs from SpongeBob). Eddy is also hot tempered and is ready to pick a fight with anyone who stands in his way, especially Ed's younger sister, Sarah.

Throughout the series, we hear Eddy talking about his adult brother that's actually not living in Peach Creek with them but is in college. Eddy always has a new "bright idea" in every new episode but things always go wrong which leads to the plan's failure. His craving to be the most popular kid in the cul-de-sac automatically makes Kevin his rival, because Kevin is very popular. Eddy's way of running is that he stretches his arms out in front of him and sticks his long green tongue out while running.

Kevin

Kevin is the cool kid and jock among the kids in Peach Creek. He is athletic and can also be very arrogant and sarcastic. Kevin detests the Eds so much that he even has a custom nickname for them, Dorks! You won't here Kevin ever calling any of the Eds by their names, instead he would make up names with incorporations of "Dork" in them such as Dork, Dorkk and Dorky.

Kevin is super popular and is even admired by younger kids like Jimmy. He is normally seen with his bike which he loves so much, maybe working on it or riding it. He also hangs out a lot with Nazz and also with Rolf at times. Another thing that makes Kevin very popular among the kids is that his garage is filled with jawbreakers because his dad works at the jawbreaker factory. This makes Eddy who is his rival hate him even more. Among the three Eds, he hates Eddy most.

Nazz

Nazz is a blonde and relatively quiet girl in Peach Creek. She is kind, tenderhearted and also organized. In the series, Nazz is the unattainable love interest. All the boys in the whole series apart from Rolf and Jonny are clearly seen to be infatuated with her. Her last name, Van Bartonschmeer shows that she should be of German descent.

Nazz is the fashionable kid among her peers. Most of the time, she is seen with Kevin. She is the lead cheerleader at Peach Creek Junior High where all the kids go. Throughout the series, you won't hear her speak much when compared to other characters like Eddy and Sarah who are loud mouthed but she does make some statements at times which shows more maturity than others, although at other times she can make dumb statements. Nazz doesn't have anything against the Eds. She is friendly to the three of them.

Jonny

Jonny is maybe one of the most unique characters in the series. He is a young dark skinned boy in Peach Creek that we could confidently say is a loner. There are times that you see him hanging out with other characters but most of the time, he is alone, hanging out and conversing with his best friend, Plank (who is actually a plank). Jonny carries Plank wherever he goes and claims to listen to him. All the other kids at times see Jonny as a nuisance.

Jonny has an alter-ego called Melonhead. He dresses up as a superhero and places a halved watermelon on his head and carries Plank (who then becomes Splinter the Wonderwood) around. Jonny has a huge head which always gets caught in trees. He is also a vegetarian. Jonny is known for making random appearances and making dumb statements. He has no hate for the Eds and is also so gullible, which makes him an easy target for Eddy's scams. Jonny is a nice guy until someone messes with Plank. He once beat the Kanker Sisters because they kidnapped Plank. He's the only character who is less afraid of them. He is also resistant to hypnosis and is a vegetarian.

Sarah

Sarah is Ed's younger sister. She is a hotheaded, spoilt little brat who gets irritated easily. Sarah has a serious hate for the Eds and occasionally beats them up, although it was once said that she has a crush on Double D. Sarah and Eddy are known for engaging in frequent brawls and insulting each other, especially because Sarah tries at times to spoil their plans by threatening her big brother Ed with the words, "I'm telling Mom!"

Sarah is mostly seen with her best friend Jimmy and is known for protecting him from danger. They usually play children's games like dollhouse dramas and so on. She also has super strength–just like her brother Ed–which we normally see her unleash on people that dare to cross her.

Jimmy

Jimmy is a little boy with a much more lighter skin than other characters. He is mostly seen with his best friend Sarah, playing doll and tea party games or cooking. She acts as a guardian angel to Jimmy, protecting him from physical and emotional threats. This is because Jimmy is accident prone, a wimp and in fact, the weakest character in the series. This makes Kevin tease him most times.

We would normally see Jimmy with a bandage or a plaster or an injury on his body in each episode. Throughout the series, he also wears a retainer for his teeth. Jimmy is soft hearted but can get angry and mean when Sarah is endangered. He also loves performing arts. Although Jimmy is not considered street smart (which makes him prone to scams), later times in the series actually expose him to be business minded, as he carries out plans to get money from his peers and succeeds, unlike Eddy.

Rolf

If you were to ask who the weirdest character in the whole series is, I'd say Rolf. Rolf is apparently older and taller than the other kids. He is a very hardworking boy who can most of the time be seen working on his parents' farm in the cul-de-sac. Rolf is dark-skinned like Jonny and is also very hairy (especially on his chest). He makes it known countless times that he's an immigrant from a distant land called The Old Country. Telling from his accent, he should be from a Northern or Eastern European country.

Rolf is known for his very strange customs. I mean, just to name a few; The Eels of Forgiveness, The Cupcakes of Sorriness, The Armpit Rubs of Victory, etc. These customs baffle the characters in so many instances. He also does not have anything against the Eds and even relates with them most times but he gets very angry when someone insults his livestock or customs. Rolf is also the second strongest character, coming behind Ed. Rolf's best friend is Kevin. His other friends are his livestock which he named such as Winifred the pig and Bobo the clam. He also refers to himself in the third person. Rolf is the leader of the boy scout group called Urban Rangers consisting of he, Jimmy, Jonny and Plank.

Plank

An icon in the series, Plank is Jonny's imaginary and best friend. Plank is a piece of wood with eyes and a mouth drawn on it to give it a face. Plank is referred to as a male as we hear the characters call 'him' a 'he' throughout the series. Plank doesn't speak although Jonny claims to hear what he says. Other characters (maybe apart from Eddy) respect Plank and Jonny's relationship and even treat him as a real kid.

Somehow, Plank is also enrolled in the same school as the other kids. He even attends gym class and is also a part of the football team. We are moved to believe that in a way, Plank controls Jonny's mind. In an episode where he and Jonny were together in a library, Plank is seen to be reading a book called Mind Control for Pre-pubescents which raises more suspicion, although it might have just been added as a gag. Plank is also part of the Urban Rangers and is also Jonny's superhero sidekick, Splinter the Wonderwood.

The Kanker Sisters

Of course the character list won't be complete without the Kanker Sisters. Fans really don't like these naughty girls. They are the main antagonists of the whole series. The Kankers are half sisters, each having the same mom but different dads. Although their ages are not known, the oldest should be Lee (the tall orange-haired one), then Marie (the blue-haired one) and then May who is the youngest (the blonde one). The Kankers don't live in Peach Creek (although it is known that their ancestors are the owners of the cul-de-sac) but instead live in a trailer outside of it.

The Kankers are potrayed as bullies who bully the kids of Peach Creek especially the Eds who they also romantically harass. This makes all the kids in the cul-de-sac very afraid of them. These sisters, as we have seen before are so ruthless that they could cause mass destruction to the entire cul-de-sac. Each of them has a preference when it comes to the Eds with Lee crushing on Eddy, Marie crushing on Edd and May crushing on Ed. On the other hand, the Eds don't feel the same way. They are disgusted and terrified by the Kankers.

My Opinion:

There are some episodes and scenes of Ed, Edd n Eddy I can never forget. This was an all-time favorite. I remember an episode called Little Ed Blue where Ed was very angry for the first time just because there was a pebble in his shoe. He beat a lot of people up and destroyed the cul-de-sac. I also remember the only episode the boys actually ate jawbreakers. I get so many Ed, Edd n Eddy memories. These are what I like most about the series;

• I like the fact that the Eds fail in each episode. It will always want you to watch more and yearn for them to succeed, even if it's only once.

• The drawing of the whole show is unique. I love that it looks like it was drawn by a little kid. The show has an early twentieth century feel to it.

• I so much love that there are only a few characters. In fact, the only characters are kids. This makes it more awesome as you'll be thinking where all the adults are and looking for opportunities to spot even one adult. Apart from that reason, the fewness of the characters is awesome because it gives a kind of few neighborhood kids feeling which makes us remember our own circle of friends back in the day.

• I like the fact that each character is very unique. I'm glad there are not some characters that are almost the same. I mean, from a greedy short brat who always wants money to a very dumb and funny acting buffoon all the way to an immigrant with strange cultures, and then a plank of wood; wonderful.

Maybe the best thing like about this show is it's comedy. To go back and rewatch it now would definitely be worth it. It's a really funny show with a lot of jokes in it. In fact, the whole show is centered on making not just kids, but also adults laugh. Ed Edd n Eddy was really pure gold. They are guilty of being a wonderful part of my childhood.

Sí, son Ed, Edd y Eddy. Esta es una caricatura que estoy feliz de haber visto cuando era niño. Tiene seis temporadas.

En raras ocasiones, vemos sombras de adultos y, a veces, sus manos o piernas. Durante aproximadamente 4 temporadas de la serie, los niños están de vacaciones de verano que parecen no tener fin. Desde la quinta temporada, a veces se les ve yendo a la escuela.

Los Personajes:

Ed es un niño y el asilo de trabajo de los Eds. Ed es como... ¿Qué palabra estoy buscando? Resistente al dolor. Quiero decir, este tipo no siente ningún dolor. Entre los tres Eds (y todos los demás personajes de toda la serie), él es el más tonto. Es conocido por hacer declaraciones que no tienen ningún sentido y también por reírse como un tonto. Puedo recordar un episodio en el que realmente hizo un buen punto y Double D y Eddy quedaron estupefactos. No podían creerlo.

Ed es, sin duda, el favorito de los fanáticos entre los personajes de toda la serie porque agrega mucha comedia en todos los episodios. Otra cosa sobre Ed es que es el personaje más fuerte que podría levantar una casa. Bueno, por supuesto, esperamos ese tipo de combinación: tonto y fuerte. Eddy es el tercer miembro y líder autoproclamado de los Eds. Eddy es un niño preadolescente bajito y codicioso que dirige los planes de los Ed para engañar a los otros niños. Le encanta el dinero (me hace recordar a Don Cangrejo de Bob Esponja). Eddy también tiene mal genio y está listo para pelear con cualquiera que se interponga en su camino, especialmente con la hermana menor de Ed, Sarah.

A lo largo de la serie, escuchamos a Eddy hablar sobre su hermano adulto que en realidad no vive en Peach Creek con ellos pero está en la universidad. Las Kankers son medias hermanas, cada una con la misma madre pero diferentes padres. Hay algunos episodios y escenas de Ed, Edd y Eddy que nunca podré olvidar. Este fue un favorito de todos los tiempos. Recuerdo un episodio llamado Little Ed Blue en el que Ed estaba muy enojado por primera vez solo porque tenía una piedra en el zapato. Golpeó a mucha gente y destruyó el callejón sin salida. También recuerdo el único episodio en el que los chicos realmente comieron mandíbulas. Tengo tantos recuerdos de Ed, Edd y Eddy. Estos son lo que más me gusta de la serie;

• Me gusta el hecho de que los Eds fallan en cada episodio. Siempre querrá que mires más y anheles que tengan éxito, aunque sea solo una vez.

• El dibujo de todo el espectáculo es único. Me encanta que parece que fue dibujado por un niño pequeño. El espectáculo tiene una sensación de principios del siglo XX.

• Me encanta tanto que solo hay unos pocos personajes. De hecho, los únicos personajes son niños. Quizás lo mejor de este programa es su comedia. Volver atrás y volver a verlo ahora definitivamente valdría la pena. Es un programa muy divertido con muchos chistes.
