Hey everyone, how are you all doing? Hope all is well. May God be blessed. Today's a nice day to add another post here. It's raining over here at Abia state right now and it's freaking cold.
I saw a tweet on Twitter that really amused me and at the same time got me thinking (sorry, I forgot to screenshot it). So this guy wrote on Twitter, "Nawa oh ASUU stop all these rubbish. Our destinies are at stake" (paraphrase). As I just saw this tweet, I literally took my eyes off my phone and into the air and thought, "our destinies, at stake?"
I'm a student of FUTO (let's just say soon-to-be freshman). I get that the whole ASUU issue is annoying and all that to some people (let's be real now, some people actually don't care๐) but come on, to believe that for the reason of the strike, our destinies are at stake, haba that's too much na. Let's agree to disagree on that matter.
We humans, and I mean each and every one of us are reactive. In essence, that means that we tend to react to what's going on in our environment. It's natural because we're just human. "Oh no, ASUU has struck again. Another extra year for me. My life is over. My destiny is ruined." That's just you bending to what's going on in your environment. That's what makes us superior to other creatures. We can feel, we have emotions, we can THINK on a much higher level.
Nobody is hundred percent unreactive (or you could say, proactive) unless you are some robot.

However, it doesn't mean you should be too reactive. Nothing should be the decider of how your life is going to be like. Nothing should make you think that your dreams are over. The effective ones decide to bend against the environment especially when it seems really tough.
Helen Keller became deaf, blind and dumb shortly after birth. Normally, other people around her would have seen her as a very helpless lady. Notwithstanding, she has left her name in the sands of time, even when all seemed against her.
You may think I'm just another motivational speaker that doesn't even understand what I'm saying. I am still yet to understand the most powerful gift God gave all humans, the mind. So yes, I am not fully conversant with what I am writing here. One thing's for sure though, the man who spends more time thinking will experience less limits in his success.
Let's connect the dots that represent everything I have spoken about now. Nigeria is messed up. The world itself is messed up. It's spiraling down into what might be one of the worst moments in history and then, to some, it's worse in the sense that FG and ASUU came along to bring there own wahala into the equation. You know, now it's easy to see the bad side of literally everything. But, then what? There's no difference. Things remain the same for you.
TAKE CHARGE.
THINK.
We spend a lot of time meant for thinking on "non-essential" things. Time spent on social media by the average person in a day is not less than 3 hours. Then there are some of us who spend the whole day on Facebook, WhatsApp and YouTube (yes, I am guilty too. I mean YouTube sef is addictive). I've however decided to cut down the time I spend in things like these to sit down and just think. Leonardo Da Vinci didn't spend time on Facebook, neither did Socrates nor Aristotle. I'm not saying you must become like them cause they were obviously on the verge of madness.
What I mean is you should realize that your life is not just in the hands of Yaweh, the Almighty God, but is also in YOURS. You make your decisions. You're studying medicine, then boom, ASUU strikes and you decide to put all the blame of your failures on poor ASUU who are thinking of there own interests. If medicine is all you want to do with your life, why don't you use this time to cover everything in that your textbook? Even if you know everything in it from beginning to end, you can't tell me that textbook exhausts all the knowledge in this whole world on medicine.
I'm not even close to being an amazing thinker, but I want to take that chance to get there. A journey of a million miles begins with a step. Take that step. Who cares how long you stay in school anyway? It's your life. You can still be what you want to be, regardless.
So next time you want to blame ASUU for your misfortunes, just come back to my wall and reread this short write-up. I hope someone has been blessed. Hallelujah somebody ๐๐พโโ๏ธ.
Let's talk again another day.
Thank You.
