The heat of august makes the roads seem longer than it is. Miles stretch out into the horizon like rivers, and looking at how it zigzags through the open fields, you feel just how small your existance is, compared to the vast world around you.

The wheel under your hand is steady, mind at a rare state of peace, and eyes, forward. The road is long, and although it seems endless, there is a destination in your mind that you've painted for an eternity, starting from the micro-specs of dust floating in the air, to the golden evening sun over your head.

From the rented red Toyota to the packets of cigarettes sitting on the dashboard; visions that are built through a lifetime, coming together slowly in front of your eyes as his figure up the road slowly becomes visible.

As your car comes gradually to a stop in front of him, you look out at him with a faint smile covering your lips.

Golden rays glimmer softly around him like a blanket. Kind eyes made softer by the light, his smile makes the sun look faint. The stories that hide behind that smile is as endless as the road in front of you. And you've been walking along it for years, never to tire.

"Come for a drive?"

The playful note in your voice isn't missed by the man in front of you, and you watch him break into a chuckle. The line you spoke is well used and practised, rolling off your tongue at the most bizarre of times. And he laughs at the obviousness of it all. You've been waiting for aeons to say it right here, and he has been waiting a lifetime to hear it.

With a shake of his head, he gets in, and you start your car again, eyes shining.

The sun starts to set on the horizon up west. Canola fields that zoom pasts you is an endless ocean of gold, winds ripping through the flower-buds, spreading a heady smell of raw canola.

The cigarette in your hand burns, and you watch the smoke mix with the violet sky. You look over at him, only to find his eyes already on you. Waiting, forever, and patient.

Maybe it's the gist of tears in your iris. Maybe it's the intoxicating smell of canola. Maybe it's the violet sky and the setting sun. Maybe it's just him and his eyes.

He looks at you like he's seeing you for the first time.

You know the words even before they tremble out of his lips.

"We can go anywhere?"

And as the last ray of the sun slips into your bones, you smile.

"Anywhere."

The road is long.
But you have a destination in mind. A vision built over a lifetime, coming into reality as the stars come out over your head.

You're a dreamer at heart; he's a traveller. And the road somewhere in Devon, is endless.

There is a road in Devonshire that has been calling me for years.

I don't have any idea just where it is, or just how long it stretches out. But there is a road in Devonshire that has been calling me for years.

With canola fields on both sides, the road looks like a yellow ocean, with no sign of life for miles. It heads into a horizon I've never been able to reach. But my destination ends with me in an open field under the stars, arms stretched out and the world falling quiet as I, for the first time, understand what silence truly is.

It's really an insignificant dream. But I am a dreamer, and I paint worlds in my head with colours that are yet to be discovered. It's only to the rarest people, that I speak of them.

I'm a scattered yet private mind who loves to write her emotions down, and who yearns to discover silence in its truest forms. And as I explore and navigate this life of mine and find new adventures, I intend to store them down in this platform.

Immortality is a concept I'm both terrified and fascinated by. Desire to be alive forever isn't something I can't ignore no matter how hard I try.

It's only by leaving something behind that you can achieve true immortality. And maybe, my way if being immortal will be by leaving this digital journal of mine here, where it will be left ignored and unspoken of, like billions of other creations in the world. Creations which are just there, living and breathing, but never under the spotlight.
