(Created by me, of course! Who else paints this poorly?!)
I'm generally a person who shies away from calling myself an artist. For one, I don't think I have the proper skills to paint or draw anything extraordinary and exceptional yet, and I'm definitely lacking in skills and ideas that can be called unique. Still, art is something I find myself dabbling with every now and then, as paints and I can't seem to stay away from each other for too long.
Like most people, before beginning to draw anything, I like to skim through a massive chunk of art on Pinterest to get inspired. And the type of painting I made had been something I've been meaning to draw for about a week now.
I used this picture as a reference for what I created. (The SOURCE led to the artist's Etsy shop, which has some cool-looking paintings you can all check out!)
It's a simple view of the ocean with shades of blue, and If I'm being honest, most of my time went behind mapping my canvas, creating all the boxes and margins.
I'm still pretty amateur at keeping a clean border, and even my colour theory is weak, but I somehow managed to get on with it after the initial margins of the canvas were done, and I finished the whole colouring process within an hour (while another two hours beforehand was spent creating the margins...-,- I'm very terrible at keeping thing straight!)
If I'm being honest, I'm very happy with the end result. It's definitely not the best painting, nor is it clean to look at, but it shows how much I've improved over the months, and how much more I need to work to get better.
Besides, picking up a paintbrush every once in a while works like a real stress reliever. There is just something calming about getting your hands and clothes dirty with dripping wet colours, trying to create something that may not be one of a kind, but in the end, is something to be proud of.
