While I may not be a movie, or a weather enthusiast, the one thing I do hold near and dear to me, is music.
I was there when cassette players were still cool and had the pleasure of dancing along to some of the bops of the early 2000s. So my taste in music artists is as vast as the ocean. I've skimmed through hardcore rock to slow silky blues, made my way through melodic country to soul-wrenching heavy metal, so trying to pick out a single artist from all that I've consumed and cherished throughout the years is a challenging task. So I'll just mention a couple of my recent favourites and call it a day.
With a crippling mid-life crisis going on at 25, I've been listening to rather depressing and sad songs, which has brought me to the wonderful world of Indie music. When I say Indie, singers like Flower Face and The Paper Kites come to mind with their soft and soothing sounds. Gregory Alan Isakov is another favourite with his songs that takes me back to the eighties, and then there are The Lumineers (who are, in truth, a folk rock band but..well, I like them a lot, okay?) and Radical Face are there to pick me up or push me even further down whenever I feel sad.
Songs like Cleopatra, Don't Keep Driving, Summer Skeleton, and Angela live in my mind rent-free these days, and honestly, I can't get enough of them. And with September coming around with its pale blue skies and autumn wind, they are the perfect company to have, with a warm cup of tea on a sad, sad evening.
