So I basically wrote this around 2017. Though it is mostly unstructured, I still do adore it. So, cheers!

Distance;
It doesn't begin ever so sudden with a full stop on conversations.

Distance;
It doesn't begin with a wall built overnight,
With ignorance that came into existence in an instance.

Distance;
It begins with faint little pauses,
Pauses that comes before sending out a text,
Pauses that creeps in while typing out a reply, so you shelve it away for later.

It begins with a bland, polite smile,
And nods that appear when conversations start seeming dull.
Distance begins when the idea of sharing an opinion with one another starts to feel more of a chore,
And less of a commitment.

Like morning fog, distance walks in slow,
It's like a thief; you don't sense its presence;
It creeps up to you and takes what's yours without you even knowing.
A silent tsunami, its effect you only witness after it passes;
A wreckage unfixable at times. A casualty so irrevocable.

There is no fixed date or time for distance.
There is no pinpoint as to just when it starts.
There is no pause to it, no reset button, or no rewind;
So when distance begins, it keeps on going,
And going, until there is nothing left to fix or take back.

And Distance,
In the end, just like pain, hurts.
