What would I do with a million? The more important question would be, what could I do with a million??
It's an amount that sounds too big and too small simultaneously in different scenarios.
For example, A small two-bedroom apartment will cost me close to a million in New York; at the same time, I can get a full-fledged mansion with anything that I can think of on the more, well, poorer or less popular side of the world with the same amount of money.
It all honestly comes down to the choices of lifestyle one chooses.
And I've never been someone who is fond of the overly luxurious ones.
If I get a million dollars in my pocket, the first thing I'll do is sign myself up for a master's degree in some University in Europe. I don't want to attend Oxford or Cambridge, as I don't think I have the qualifications to study there, so I'll probably pick someplace that is average as best. It's been a lifelong dream of mine to study abroad. And It's the first thing I'll fulfil the second I have the funds.
The second thing I'll do is invest. Thinking about the future is important. And I'll think about mine and ensure I get some passive incomes sorted away for the rainy days I may encounter.
I'll give some money to my parents to ensure they live a happy life. Build them a nice house in the village. Get them settled and cosy with their life. They deserve a break from all the struggle and torture city life brings. And I'll be happy to comply.
But if I'm being honest, I think most of my money will be spent on travelling.
I've this huge thirst to see the world. Not the tourist kind of way but, in a traveller kind of way. I want to walk along unknown streets, hike over mountains, camp near rivers, and just see this planet in its most barren and raw self.
For more of a permanent and solid-like thing, well.... I might get myself a Vespa.
And that's about it I guess.
No luxurious houses.
No fancy cars.
No room filled with books. ( Cause I know what bookshelves does to people. I already have one, and I haven’t read a single book from it for over a year...)
Just a Vespa, some investments, a master's degree(or two..or three...) and the whole wide world in front of me.
That's how I'd spend my million.
