Sad Ray, Acrylic on Paper, 2016

This is one of my favorite ones from the time (I feel like I say that a lot, maybe I have a lot of favorites?). Unlike my "Strips" piece this one actually does have some meaning in it. There is emotion here, even if a bit abstract. I didn't go for realistic, I just went for feeling and visual interest. And I think I got it on this one.

I love the way I did the shadows, he almost looks sinister, like the Phantom of the Opera or something. My favorite part of the painting is definitely the eye. It makes me think of those old horror movies where the eyes of the paintings follow the characters with evil intent. This character is angry at the artist (me) and we can all feel it. Plus that color just pops against that background.
Does the Steem world think as highly of this painting as I do? We shall see.

This is the first post I am trying crossposting with on Steempeak. Let's see how it goes...

I’m posting every painting I have ever done from 2014 to the present, the good, the bad, and the ugly. With an occasional photograph or sketch thrown in just to mix things up. Check back daily to see my progression as an “artist”!
