I appreciate this comment so very much right now. Even though my gut told me that it was time, and that I truly care about people so that should shine through, there's still a feeling of "Should I?" attached to speaking at all on topics that I frequently see hotly debated in comment sections. There's probably very few people- who don't lean heavily in a specific direction that is- that haven't fallen victim to a certain amount of self-censorship, especially in the past couple years.
I also consider myself liberal by it's former definition- willing to respect or accept behavior or opinions different from one's own; open to new ideas. But as that is clearly not the current outlook, I've started calling myself a political atheist (it's not a real thing, but it fits lol)
I definitely don't feel guilty, if anything I was beginning to feel that for not speaking up. But I've just never liked making people feel uncomfortable, and that's not necessarily a virtue. I know from experience that being pulled out of our comfort zone is often necessary for real growth.
The Gays and lesbians being most hard hit-- absolutely! I worry about my guys because yes, it is highly likely that it will swing far the other way, at least for a time.
I do think there are at least some more people speaking up, and I'm hoping that this trend will grow. That the more balanced individuals start expressing themselves, the more others will be emboldened to do the same.
Your writing is balanced and reasonable and kind. ---
Thank you so much for that :0) I had a friend of mine-not on Hive- read it first and she said basically the same, but she's biased, haha, it's not much different than mama dreemit saying it XD
I haven't read Irreversible Damage, no, but if you're recommending it I will put it on my list!
I'm so glad you dropped by, I will definitely be head over to your page. I've always loved your writing style, your eloquent comment was a reminder:)
