Then, because the kid was only doing his duty to protect his family, suffers internally for his childhood trauma of killing someone at such a young age. Possibly, a sociopath has been born all because some intruder wanted something that wasn't his. Can't really know for sure what outcome a child is going to have long term. Either way, it's still no excuse to not teach your kids about the importance of having protection and how to use it.
