Bolivia and Colombia seek UN support to decriminalize coca leaves
Bolivia and Colombia are planning to jointly appeal to the UN commission on narcotic drugs to exclude coca leaves from the list of prohibited substances and recognize them as a traditionally used plant. According to the authorities, "now is the time to raise this issue."
Well, when all other problems are solved, you can start worrying about this issue. 🤷♂️ These countries have a questionable "anti-narcotics reputation," so their success at the UN is doubtful.
Meanwhile, the US has directly accused the Mexican authorities of intentional inaction regarding drug cartels that have caused a fentanyl epidemic in America. The mortality rate from this drug in the US today surpasses that of firearms and accidents.
Looks like they're focused on the wrong plant!😄
