Jazz is quute synonymous with the Sax, perhaps a little more attached to it than other instruments. In fact, when I tell people I play the sax, they just assume I love jazz a lot. It's somewhat true for an assumption though, mainly because most saxophonists have some form of exposure to jazz.

Afrojazz was built heavily on the pentatonics, but we have a lot more variation in the contporary world of music now.
Fela, a father of afrobeat, explored jazz in afrobeat to an extent, and a lot of african music explored in ensembles seem to explore it more from the afrojazz perspective, some making a reference when to Fela himself.

There are some elements of percussion and music you would more than likely hear in Fela's music, including wood claves, horns section, synths and a chord progession that is almost constant all through the song with a heavy groove.

More often than not you'll see at least 2 or more these elements in his song.
And then he plays his sax on some pieces with emphasis on the groove than modes.

Here, I found a track that sounds close to the Fela type of music, even though it's not a classical representation. The vibe and groove was present here, including the wood claves, and the progression was by and large wuite constant through the piece.
So I could say this piece is performed in the style of Fela

I hope you enjoyed it.
