People always tend to look to the past through rose-tinted glass of nostalgia and, when it comes to films, they always sigh about "films that they don't make anymore". I know this when I look at my reviews I had written in 1990s and find that I complained that, when it comes to quality, contemporary films couldn't match the truly great stuff that was being made in 1970s.
On the other hand, it is difficult not to agree that general quality of filmmaking, at least in Hollywood, decreased in last ten year or so and that the streaming had a lot to do with it. Like those infamous Netflix memos to screenwriters about having characters describe their actions in order to allow attention-lacking viewers to know what is going on. Or so many films and shows being inexplicably dark simply to allow streaming platforms to save bandwidth.
