1996 fantasy adventure film Dragonheart tries to exploit popular motive of medieval literature and folklore in somewhat original way. The plot is set in 10th Century England, and Dennis Quaid plays Bown, a knight who encounters dragon called Draco (voiced by Sean Connery). Instead of fighting each other, they establish partnership during which Draco pretends to threaten peasants while Bowen pretends to kill him, picking up rich rewards afterwards. This arrangement is threatened when both of them have to fight tyrannical Einon (played by David Thewliss). Directed by Rob Cohen, Dragonheart suffers from many Hollywood cliches, including romantic subplot linked to character played by Dina Meyer and comic relief character played by Pete Postlethwaite. Film is ultimately rescued by Connery, who manages to lend not only his voice but also his charisma to legendary creature.
