I can relate. I was like this in the early years too, but only towards BTC or ETH, before HIVE, I had the same swings, the same lows and highs.
Now, with HIVE, I know that I can generate more tokens as long as I keep interacting, and, as Bitcoin maximalists say: one Hive will always be one Hive. I got to understand that the real value generation process is in the writing / commenting / contributing, and not in trading, or exchanging the value outside of the system. That process is riskier, albeit a bit more accessible, you can do it right now, whereas for Hive you need to build and that takes time.
Trading is done on a very different mindset than building. And it really requires you to make peace with actually losing all your money. Which I don't want to happen, really :)
