This is an informal writing piece that is based on a true story experienced by the author or writer. Narrative essays are generally a telling of a story. Writers write about themselves. We all have experiences which are worth sharing with readers.
Parts of a story:
You must always have a clear purpose in your writing. You telling a story, but the writing must have a point. This helps make your paper/writing more interesting for readers.
Your purpose should be very similar to a thesis or an essay. You wont be stating your purpose at all during the beginning of your writing, but this should be kept in your mind so that the point is made at the end.
DO NOT BE AFRAID to use "I". The readers need to know who is telling the story. So the best way to write is from your own point of view.
Remember to locate your story in place and time, this will make sure that the reader is never wondering where or when. This also helps the reader to not just read but experience the story with the characters. Do not go completely overboard when doing this, not every paragraph needs this.
Description brings your story alive, keeps the reader captivated and entertained. Paint a picture in your words, use the 5 senses, add emotion, make sure that your descriptions server the overall purpose of the writhing.
