Besides having my own job and a love for travel, one of my hobbies is gardening. I don’t have a large garden, but what I do have is enough for my wife and me. Of course, we also send a few jars of preserves to our children. With proper planning, you can have everything, even in a small space. Let us not forget—food does not originate on store shelves.
It comes from the soil, from hardworking hands, and from a love for what we do! This year was exceptionally dry and hot, but I managed to pull through somehow, and I will show you the fruits of my labor.
There are some green beans, and I can't wait for my wife to cook them, because I love eating them with a tomato and cucumber salad, sprinkled with grated cheese. My zucchini are top-notch and the peppers are excellent—plus, I have the ones for winter preserves growing in another garden. So, tell me, is there anything better than homegrown food? It gives me real pleasure to see what I’ve sown and what I’ve harvested. I haven’t used any sprays, so everything is organic.
I haven't planted many potatoes, but I’m going to plant a second batch; I also have a bit of corn—just enough to boil now and then. My wife likes planting marigolds in the garden. She says their scent keeps stink bugs away, and she’s right—we didn't have any this year.
What I love most when harvesting ripe produce from the garden is lighting a fire and brewing coffee right there. Then my wife and I sit down, invite the neighbors over if they happen to be in the adjacent garden, and we all enjoy drinking it together.
Thank you for reading my post.
