It's a difficult question to answer, the meaning of life, is there even a meaning or as humans do we just yearn to understand what we don't yet. If you look back through history all groups of humans have one thing in common and that is the pursuit of knowledge.
You could debate the greatest, most sought after knowledge, though finding the meaning of life is definitely a contender for top spot.
I separate the meaning of life into two categories, scientifically and spiritually. From a scientific standpoint the meaning of life is to reproduce, have children. We are not immortal I would assume because it is more efficient to reproduce as it allows adaption and to grow stronger from one generation to the next.
The spiritual side I would say is a harder question to answer as we are all different. I was recently reading an article where elderly people were asked if they could go back in time what would they do differently. The most common answers were; Follow their own path and not follow the wishes and expectations of others, spend less time working and more time enjoying life, lastly to not waste time worrying about superficial things.
From that I would take that the meaning of life so is to be able to die knowing that you followed your dreams and lived a life true to yourself while helping others
