People and a lack of responsibility

In the world of today everyone is so driven by money, people spend most of their time trying to get it and get as much of it as possible. The want people have for money can be there for many reasons, however it becomes a problem when people choose money over the wellbeing of others. People today will aid in wars, boosting the price of medicine, filling food with chemicals, putting entertainment over education all for money.

What good is having money if you lose yourself getting it?

  • If you are the most knowledgeable person in a room you should depart some knowledge on the others.

  • If you are the strongest person in a room then you should look out for those who are not as strong.

  • If you have the strongest voice in a room you should stand and share the truth with those who can't stand.

  • If you are the most content in a room you should try to inspire those who aren't.

These are only but a few examples of how people should help others, when you are in a position of power you should use that position to help others, you should not use it to take advantage of others.

If you miss use your position then people will greet you with harsh words and you will greet yourself with harsh criticism.

If you use your position to help people then they will want to help you and you will become content with who you are.

Divide:

The world is splitting in many ways and extremes are becoming just that more extreme. In places such as America and South Africa we see wars based on race that have been raging on for generations. We see the ice caps literally splitting apart along with more extreme weather globally.
Even just in day to day life people walking around littering, adding up over time creating huge dumps of litter.

Then there are people on the other side fighting against racism, scientists trying to work out ways in which we can live more sustainable, and regular people trying to clear up litter and save animals being harmed by it.

People trying to help is of course a good thing however sometimes people get caught up in the politics and rather than trying to help others they end up fighting against the people they disagree with, which only causes more harm than anything else. For example the punch a nazi in the face thing people were doing, rightfully people are angry at nazi protests but in what way is putting a mask on and trying to fight them helping? Once a person has a mask on they feel as though they are not responsible they are no longer themselves but a part of something bigger.

This is something that is vary dangerous, pack mentality, people moving as a group and doing things they would never do on their own as they have a group to hide within. They don't feel responsible anymore and because of this people get hurt and people do things they wouldn't normally do.

It is by no means an easy task to be a part of a group while still remaining individual along with acting in a way you usually would, however it is also by no means impossible and if these behaviors continue the situation will get worse and worse, along with more innocent people being hurt and becoming the same type of person that hurt them.

Over responsibility

However a lack of responsibility is not the only problem, there are also lots of people who have this strong sense that they are completely responsible for others however it can becomes warped into a sort of dictator mentality, I am responsible there for I control everyone, I make all the decisions. In these positions people act again originally with good intentions but over time what they believe and what they are willing to do gets lost in all the stress and confusion.

I don't like to use the terms 'good' and 'bad' because nothing is as simple as someone being good or bad, if a person does bad things are they necessarily bad? If a person does good things are they necessarily good? To both of these questions I would answer no not at all.

In war each side sees the other as the enemy, bad people, and their job is to kill. Being a commander in the army I would assume you feel a strong sense of responsibility over the lower ranking members which can make people do awful things all in the name of protecting their soldiers. This is an act that is not good nor bad and also demonstrates over responsibility and a lack of responsibility.

As I said the officer may do things they would regularly never do because they feel responsibility, however they also at the time feel a lack of responsibility for the people they kill because they are told its not just okay but 'good' to kill the enemy, there is no responsibility for the families of the people they kill and the people they harm.

Now is the soldier to blame, the commanding officer or the government for starting the war? In reality they are all to blame but also deserve no blame as the blame is on everyone not just the people mentioned. People in the country who fight to go to war, people who don't act to stop the war. The people of the world are to blame for spreading hatred and lacking a middle ground of feeling responsible for others but not twisting that responsibility into power over others.

(This is just an example I use, I personally don't agree with war and feel that it is a tool used again for greed. I respect the bravery of soldiers and respect their decisions, though I do not agree with what they do)

My opinion:

Money over everything, a way many people in this world live. Doing anything to get money and more to keep hold of it, but what good is money if you have no one to share it with?
People can't always blame others whether that be; governments, big corporations or you next door neighbor. Every one is responsible for their actions however we also have a responsibility to help others, care for them when they need to be cared for, lift them up when they are down and to spread happiness. We are also responsible for the environment, not littering and taking steps in your own home is not enough now, if you see litter in the street pick it up, if you see a way you can help then help.

At the end of the day no one is perfect and all we can do is try our hardest to promote what we believe.

Does any of this resonate with you? I would love to hear what steemit has to say.
