I am a big fan of conspiracy theories though I am not a big believer in them, really I just find it interesting to see the ideas people come up with and how they rationalize things. There are a lot of theories you can tell straight of that bat are just fiction but then there are some that are hard to disprove or prove and a small portion that turn out to be true. I am going to be posting a series of blogs discussing a range of theories and sharing my opinion on them.
This for me is one of the theories I find absurd and I can't believe how big it has become as too me it just seems completely nonsensical, flat earth is the theory that the earth is flat, surrounded by an ice wall and everything revolves around it. Flat earth has recently been growing and growing due to the many videos on the internet and a few celebrities talking about the idea.
Science:
I don't want to go into detail on the actual science itself as it is something you can look up yourself there are many videos from flat earthers 'proving' the earth is flat and many sources proving the earth is not flat, I am also not a scientist, I have a reasonable amount of knowledge but mostly I don't want to go into it as if every physicists in the world can't convince people the earth is round through science why would I be able to.
There really is no point in me arguing the physics and mathematics as people just won't listen. Though there are many other ways of debunking the theory. Firstly I would say that why is it every single person who believes this theory has absolutely no credibility, why is it that not a single person that has a higher level of education in science believes this theory, surely not every single scientist in the world can working to cover this up, I would bring up astronauts however flat earthers mostly believe they are all actors anyway.
NASA is one of the main arguments to prove flat earth, people say that NASA is basically a sham however there are many different space agencies all around the globe working on many different projects so if you don't trust NASA why not look at every other space agency as well to see if you think they are all shams.
Another strange point is that many flat earthers seem to believe that the moon is spherical the sun is spherical the other planets are spherical but earth is not, earth is unique in its shape it is the only not spherical planet or star and everything revolves around earth. This all emphasizes the idea that we on earth are the center of the universe.
I personally just don't understand this emphasis on us being the center of the universe, why would we be, even if you are religious and believe your god created everything why would they put earth in the center what difference would it make, even if earth was in the center if the universe why would it mean anything special it could just be coincidence. Now I understand that us being the center if the universe plays on us having some importance in it however I feel it is really just irreverent where we are in the universe.
Hiding everything:
One of the if not the most important questions to ask, in life in general, is Why? Why would they (whoever you think they are) hide the earth being flat, what would they gain from hiding the shape of the earth. I have looked into flat earth a reasonable amount, and I never see an explanation for why 'they' would cover this up. If you have some insight please share.
My main point for believing the earth is spherical is just that reason, Why? why would the shape of the earth be hidden from us, for governments to hide such a huge thing all governments around the world would have to be working together to hide it. If all governments where in cahoots to hide something on this scale they would have to work quite closely together and if they were working together why would they have wars.
It would mean that all or the majority of wars and government disputes would be a part of the hoax to hide the shape of the earth. It seems like such an insane amount of of constant work, constant planning of logistics and constant propaganda to hide such a thing as the earth being flat.
My opinion:
I feel this theory is becoming so popular because it is a result of people projecting, projecting their emotions and frustrations into something they feel they understand almost an act of regaining control. In the society we live in people become frustrated for many reasons but the main one is a lack of control. Control is what everyone wants, you want to be able to control how well you do in life, when you have kids, if you meet the love of your life and so on.
Something the government does is take control away from us they make the big decisions and people don't like that and I see that flat earth theorists as people who strongly felt this lack of control in their lives and they needed to find an outlet and I say at least they found one that isn't harming others. It is creating a community where all types of people can come together with a common belief and discus what they believe without harming anyone.
So in a way I admire flat eathers for finding something that makes them happy and brings them closer to other people, in my opinion it is built on false pretenses but it isn't harmful and many people who feel the lack of control I mentioned turn to more extreme groups, so even if you don't agree with flat earthers you can still get along with them.
