Unlocking by pattern is one of the most used methods of mobile telephony, more than 40% of Android mobile users use this pattern to protect their mobile. At first glance, and conceptually, this method is one of the safest, however, modern hacking techniques make it the opposite.
According to a joint study between the University of Lancaster, the University of Bat (United Kingdom) and the University of the Northwest (China) the pattern of unblocking can easily be broken in a matter of seconds.
It turns out that there is a software that based on a recognition algorithm can identify a small list of possible patterns by just filming someone unlocking their mobile. The software is compatible with cellular platforms, so the attacker only has to pretend that he is using his terminal to shoot and hack the unlock pattern. In addition, the software is able to maintain its effectiveness even if the attacker is three meters away from the victim.}
The research managed to buy that the software operates with 95% efficiency, managing to hack 120 patterns in less than five attempts. Meanwhile, the most curious piece of research is that 80% of the patterns considered "more complex" were hacked at the first attempt, while only 60% of the "simples" fell at the first attempt.
The most effective option is the most obvious: there are other methods of unlocking the screen, such as the numeric pin and lately the biometric sensors - either fingerprint or Face ID - which are much harder to hack, but it is true that not all mobile phones They have biometric services.
In that case, it is better to opt for the old and loved numerical pin or better yet, use combined unlock methods.
