2 Chronicles 20: 1-3
2 And some came and told Jehoshaphat, saying, A great multitude is coming against you from across the sea, and from Syria; and behold, they are in Hazezon-tamar, which is En-gadi.
3 Then he was afraid; and Jehoshaphat humbled his face to inquire of Jehovah, and made all Judah proclaim a fast.
King James Version (RVR1960)
God has communicated his plan for man through his revealed word to ensure victory for God's people forever and obviously when we understand this revealed word victory comes because we know that we are not alone but that God fights for us.
Note that before Jehoshaphat gave words of encouragement to the people he stood up in the assembly of Juda and Jesrusalen in the house of Jehovah, before the new court and prayed to God saying:
2 Chronicles 20: 6
6 and said, Jehovah God of our fathers, are you not God in heaven, and have dominion over all the kingdoms of the nations? Is not such strength and power in your hand that no one can resist you?
King James Version (RVR1960)
.
This was really the key to the victory obtained by Jehoshaphat because he certainly leaned on the promises of God to obtain the victory of Judah and declared the absolute sovereignty of God in heaven and on earth as a reminder before the presence of Jehovah.
After this statement Jehoshaphat was full of strength and exposed his humility before God admitting that there were many who came against him and prayed saying:
2 Chronicles 20:12
12 Oh our God! Won't you judge them? Because in us there is no force against such a great multitude that comes against us; we don't know what to do, and we turn our eyes to you.
Reina-Valera 1960 (RVR1960).
This is the true cry that the Christian must make in the midst of difficulties, so we will understand that our strength is none and only before Him do we humble ourselves saying: Lord, we do not know what to do, but here we are, in your hands we are waiting for your answer.
After Jehoshaphat is clothed in the strength of God, he then tells the people what God reveals to him so that they understand that they were not alone that they did not fight adrift because with him was the owner of their victory who is Jehovah God of The armies.
2 Chronicles 20:15
15 And he said, Hear, Judah all, and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you, King Jehoshaphat. Jehovah says to you thus: Do not be afraid or intimidated before this large crowd, because it is not your war, but God's.
Reina-Valera 1960 (RVR1960).
Jehoshaphat's prayer can be an example to imitate in these difficult times we are going through
