Genesis 7: 17-20
17 And the flood was forty days upon the earth; and the waters grew, and lifted up the ark, and rose above the earth.
18 And the waters rose and grew greatly upon the earth; and the ark floated on the surface of the waters.
19 And the waters rose high over the earth; and all the high mountains that were under all the heavens were covered.
20 Fifteen cubits higher the waters rose, after the mountains were covered.

God governs all things and knows everything that is or can be done
In these verses cited you can observe the movement and sovereignty of God on the planet since it is specified the capacity of the flood a proportion of water that accumulated over 40 days and 40 nights on the earth where it is described that the waters rose and covered all the high mountains (mountain peaks) that were under all the skies.
With this event God washed the world, giving mankind the opportunity for a new beginning.
The fountains of the great abyss worked for 150 days during the flood even though the rain only lasted 40 days and 40 nights, thus showing that there was a limit of water on the atmosphere. The opening of the falls was the beginning of the first fall of the water (the rain) and the water vapor collapsed.
The description of the flood in this passage is so complete and specific that it is impossible to reconcile a local flood with the biblical record. Despite the claims of some, it was a global flood.
God does as he wants and makes his creation as he sees fit, for he is the author of life, of the planets and of everything created on the face of the earth.
It is God who has the ability to send the water, the source, the rivers ... to where he knows that it is the exact place to be.
Only God has the ability to hold this unique event in history because He governs all things that were created by his word.
