This would be perhaps the only photo I have from my childhood, here I am with two of my sisters, in the garden of my house, it turns out that apparently the weather has damaged most of the family photos. But this is how I grew up surrounded by the love of my parents and siblings, I am the youngest of 5 so I was the baby of the house. I am very fortunate to be able to say that I had a very happy childhood, it was a very peaceful time, full of great days, right now many memories bombard my memory and it makes me think about how beautiful my childhood was and how grateful I am for it.
An image that will never be erased from my memory, is the image of my dad building our house, his dedication and effort to give us a roof is something I can never forget, I remember that while everyone was working on the construction process, I was running around from one side to another, touching maybe what I should not touch, until one day one of the wheelbarrows overturned on me and I did not have a good time, but fortunately I was not injured.
Growing up in the countryside is wonderful, I would not change anything of that stage of my life, I had many places to play and many places to hide too, I remember that I played a lot of hiking, I took some fruits from the kitchen and walked near the house, with a book in my hand and binoculars, I sat under the shade of an orange tree that is a few meters away and imagined that I discovered things or just read some of my stories. My dad instilled in me the love of reading and the value of books, he always bought me a children's book or my favorite story: The Little Thumb.
When I got home from school, my mom had a routine planned for me, it was always the same every day, take a bath, then eat and do my homework or study if I had to take a test, she told me that to better enjoy my afternoon I should do all my obligations, and so it was after my homework I could play peacefully until nightfall.
This yard was my favorite place to play, I have many contemporary cousins and almost every afternoon they went to play with me, the afternoons were really fun, we played ball, police and thief, hide and seek, airplane, blind man's buffalo, in short no afternoon was the same as the previous one, but all were very exciting. The one in the picture is not me, it is my niece who also enjoyed this playground and now my son does every time we go on vacation and that makes me very happy.
One of those days when things happen because they have to happen, I ran excited to tell my parents that I already knew one of the addition tables, I tripped on a stone and fell on my arm, it swelled immediately, they had to take me to the hospital, it turns out that I fractured the elbow of my left arm and also my upper arm. Here you can see the memory I carry in my body of this day, the day I was operated on I remember it clearly, not only the pain so strong I felt I remember all my family in the hospital room.
That's what life is about, good, happy, magical moments and others not so much, I am happy with the childhood I had and I wish the same for all children in the world, the stage of childhood is a great treasure, so now those of us who are adults must give that treasure to children, to be happy men and women, who contribute to the world.
