Tomorrow we go pick up the frame from the paint shop. While the frame is out of the way we decided to put together the mouse motor for the A mod. Anybody that's not aware the mouse motor is a small block Chevy. This is a particularly large small block Chevy though it is 427 cubic inches. It has a dome piston in it that makes it about 14.5 to 1 compression. We just put in a new cam for this year, it's a solid roller custom grind cam from Comp Cams. We will be running this engine again on E85 this year. When installed the cam is at 2° advanced this year. If the dyno numbers are similar to last year we should be a little over 550 horse power out of this motor. We should have an incredibly flat powerband all the way through with new cam on horse power and torque. Last year we felt like the cam had too much of a power spike so we're turning that down this year. We may lose about 50 peak hp but we will pick up some low end torque. Along with the new cam it got a total refresh which is new rings new rod bolts and new bearings all the way through. We will be using the same aluminum AFR 220cc heads as last year they've been ported and polished and worked about as far as you can work them with 2.08 / 1.60 valves. We are also doing some custom machine work to add extra oil drain back tubes from the heads for better oiling. Topping it off will be a nice Holley 4 Barrel from our sponsor prosystems carburetor. Prosystems hands down has the best customer service and in my opinion makes the best carburetor you can find on the market.
