Well, when I try to sleep and the sleep seems to be evading me, I usually do a lot of weird stuffs in order to force myself to bed.
On of those things is picking a very boring book to read with the assurance that I won't get halfway before the sleep engulfs me.
The second is staying glued to my phone or laptop because the constant reflection of light into my eye would automatically make my eyes tired which my brain interprets to mean I need to sleep.
Furthermore, I try listening to slow music or blues. Music that makes me reflect or think, this enables me to reminisce on past events and eventually fall asleep.
Finally I try doing some rigorous exercise in order to tire myself of and make myself fall asleep faster.
These are my self designed method of falling asleep when the sleep refuses to come. Weird as they seem, they are very effective for me and works for me when I need them to.
