The city is considered to have historical importance to Albania and Albanians as it hosted the National Assembly, which declared the Albania’s independence from Ottoman rule on 28 November 1912.
Vlora is the most frequented of the Albanian Riviera and is one of the most important destinations of the Albanian “Sun and Sea” tourism.
