"Daredevil" # 99, which is now18 years old already, was an issue that was ending a storyline but really wasn't. Part Five of a Five Part Series, Ed Brubaker's story seems to lead the reader into another dimension of the same story. It appears that Melvin Potter, aka the Gladiator, has lost his mind enough to try and end his own life. Now, Daredevil becomes his protector instead of his adversary. Meanwhile, Ox and Turk are creating all sorts of chaos in Hell's Kitchen by distributing a highly volatile new drug.
Although Daredevil (Matt Murdock) is in no physical shape to go after Ox and the rest of his gang, he feels that he must save his home. Michael Lark, Stefano Gaudiano and Matt Hollingsworth are the real heroes with their crisp graphic work within the panels. Foggy agrees to take Milla home while Lily tags along after visiting Potter in the hospital. While waiting for the subway train to come, Milla accuses Lily of trying to steal Matt away from her. In a sad attempt at a blind push, Lily bumps into another gentleman and sends him to his death as the train pulls in.
With the help of gas, Daredevil is eventually subdued by Ox and is taken to meet Ox's new boss. Daredevil comes face to face with the familiar masked face of Larry Cranston. I have always felt that no matter where you pick up a story in an issue of "Daredevil," it never fails to reel you in!
