Gabriella Acosta is a mystery. She spends a good deal of time trying to stay ahead of a maniacal killer by expecting to catch him in the act by riding the subway. Gina Greene has just been appointed to head the Maniac Task Force. Nobody else really wants this job! New York City detective Zelda Pettibone wants to bag this murderer but doesn't hold out much hope in him being caught.
In AfterShock Comics "Maniac Of New York" #1, we find out through news reports and newspaper articles how some maniac named Harry caused quite a stir on the 2016 celebration of New Year's Eve. This was when Harry left 85 people dead and 33 people injured. This supposedly began a very long killing spree that has lasted more than four years. The problem is this is what he is known to have done! How about those incidents we don't know about?
Ms. Greene has more than just the capturing of a serial criminal on her mind. She has revenge as a motive for the death of Josh Rosenberg. This killing happened when Greene and Rosenberg were both camp counselors. This happened ten years ago when no one knew there was a serial killer in the works. She was too afraid to step in then, but she is ready for the hunt now!
Elliott Kalan wrote this adult-themed story and Taylor Esposito worked on the lettering. The real standout here is Andrea Mutti's artwork and use of minimalistic coloring. The blood red color is meant to punctuate any scene when it is needed. The background shadings are amazing! I don't believe that Friday the 13th's Jason has this villain's staying power!
