I have always liked the characters of Gotham City fame. DC just recently published "Dawn Of DC: The Penguin" number 1. Tom King does an excellent job of humanizing Oswald Cobblepot. It appears that the former Penguin wants to leave his old life behind. However, Agent Nuri Espinoza of the Federal Government is trying to break him to resurrect his villainous nature. Rafael de Latorre displays this within his very expressive graphic panels.
We see at the beginning of this book where the story is headed. Apparently, the Batmobile is sinking into Gotham River. Trapped inside are the Penguin and Batman, who is feeling the effects of being shot and stabbed. Espinoza did say that Cobblepot will be working for her now. However, it doesn't seem like she respects her employees or coworkers.
People were sent to antagonize Cobblepot in the park and at the florist he runs. Nothing will break this man because he is in love with Rita Wells, and she appears to love him as well. But, Espinoza kills his bird and threatens everything he holds dear and he breaks in what seems to be a plot to catch the Batman! I am hooked and am anxiously awaiting number 2.
