What do you do when a pandemic hits? Well, if you're Chris Jericho you join forces with like-minded KISS fans and call the band Kuarantine! The idea was presented to Jericho just as the pandemic hit and he loved the idea. It's not that Jericho doesn't have a full plate, but I guess the corona virus, besides all of the negative effects on the world, can be credited with sparking some creativity. Kuarantine is a KISS cover band that concentrates on their '80s non-makeup days. The first song they released last year was "No No No." Jericho was even able to convince Bruce Kulick to guest on "Heart Of Chrome." I've heard an interview where Gene Simmons may have had an assist with contacting Kulick.
Jericho already fronts Fozzy, whose song "Judas" gets plenty of airplay on my playlists. Jericho is also known as a legendary professional wrestler who spent time with WCW and WWE. He is currently wrestling for All Elite Wrestling (AEW), where he is the ultimate bad guy. He also hosts "The Rock of Jericho" on SiriusXM Octane, as well as his own "Talk Is Jericho" podcast. Surprisingly, two of the members of this supergroup hail from the world of country music!
On drums is Kent Slucher, who has been providing the backbeat for Luke Bryan for many years. Slucher has toured and recorded with Pam Tillis. In addition, he has performed and worked with artists such as the Oak Ridge Boys, Suzy Boguss, James Otto and the Gatlin Brothers. Joe McGinness handles the guitar work. Although he is primarily a country singer / musician, he is also part of KLASSIK '78, which is a digital tribute to '70s KISS. McGinness has shared the spotlight with Old Dominion, Florida Georgia Line, Granger Smith and Lonestar, among others.
PJ Farley rounds out the group on bass. He is known for the Glam Metal band Trixter. Trixter was formed in 1983 in Paramus, New Jersey, while Farley replaced a founding member in 1988. "Line Of Fire" was their first single, with "One In A Million" being even more popular. Farley was basically there from the beginning of their recording phase, as well as during their mid-2000s reunion. Members of Trixter were hanging out at Club Bené in Sayreville, New Jersey, during the infamous Warrant / China White show.
Kuarantine released a video for "Love's A Deadly Weapon" just four days ago. The project started out as just a fun thing to do, but Jericho's drive convinced the others to take it a little further. What this means is that their material is available through the streaming services. Some of the above information I was able to find at spincom, revolvermag.com and blabbermouth.net. While I concentrated mostly on the '70s era KISS. Kuarantine has opened my ears to some classic hard rock that took place once the foundation and black eyeliner were put away.
