While in one of my recent visits to Conquest Comics, I came across the number one issue of "Meet The Skrulls." It seemed like an interesting read, until I also realized how timely this series release is in conjunction with the MCU theatrical film releases. We were introduced to Skrulls in the "Captain Marvel" movie. Now for a major spoiler from "Spider-Man: Far From Home," so read on at your own risk.
The latest Spidey movie had what is arguably the best post credit scenes in the entire MCU. Not only was Spider-Man outed but Skrulls were used by Nick Fury to communicate with Spider-Man. I won't elaborate anymore because you should see the movie. However, this appears to be an indication that Skrulls will be playing a more prominent role in future films.
The comic book shows the Skrulls acting as a "Family Unit" to sort of blend in with the humans, so that their mission can be carried out. Wonderfully written by Robbie Thompson and beautifully drawn by Niko Henrichon, this issue intrigued me enough to track down future ones. Each member of the family unit must serve a specific purpose in their quest to accomplish their goals. Stark Enterprises has even been infiltrated. There are some problems with the youngest Skrull in the family, therefore, she may have to be dealt with. However, how do you accomplish this without raising suspicion among the humans?
For those of you who don't know what Skrulls are, the first page explains thay they "are a member of an alien people whose empire once spanned the Andromeda Galaxy. Unstable molecules in their bodies allow them to take any shape. The slow collapse of their empire was hastened by a failed invasion of the planet Earth." I read the book and see the movies and it leaves me wondering if they are the good guys or the bad guys. I understand what they are doing in the comic series appears to be bad, but when it comes to Marvel, things aren't always what they appear to be.
