I haven't read a Spider-Man story in quite some time, but after re-watching "Far From Home" I decided to delve into a Spider-themed story. Picking up Sinister War #2, I chose what seems to be the worst time for our friendly neighborhood hero. Nick Spencer and Ed Brisson have concocted a tale that puts Spider-Man into a situation not unlike the movie "Warriors." The major difference is our hero is fighting alone. However, I can almost here Mysterio bellowing "Spider-Man, come out and plaaaay."
Mysterio has made this personal by being involved in MJ's latest project. Then, he decided to make nice with Doctor Octopus and join his Sinister Six. Meanwhile, Vulture has his own group of merry baddies known as the Savage Six. I also learned to disregard the numbers associated with these names because sometimes it seems that these groups expand.
Just like the Warriors had to face many colorful gangs on their way back to Coney Island, Spider-Man also has more threats than the two factions already mentioned. Lying in wait is also the Sinister Syndicate, the Wild Pack and the Superior Foes Of Spider-Man. Making their dislike of Spider-Man known are the Taskmaster, Foreigner, Overdrive, Shocker and Speed Demon, among a host of many others.
There is a bounty on Spider-Man's head and the price tag must be very high to involve so many villains. However, we do know that villains usually don't play well with others. Therefore, I surmise that even though they all have a similar target, they may not survive each other! Only time will tell.
