Hello Hive community!
Sometimes the best frames aren't born during planned professional shoots, but during simple family walks. Early this summer, my family and I headed out to our local lake. It wasn't just a relaxing weekend stroll, but also a creative preparation process for the regional photo contest "Autumn Colors of Bukovina" (which I mentioned in my previous post).
Besides searching for locations and composition ideas, this walk had another exciting purpose for me — a chance to test my new camera in real conditions and try shooting in 4K.
Golden Hour & Family Moments
We got really lucky with the lighting. The evening sun cast a soft golden glow over the lake, creating beautiful reflections of the green trees on the water's surface.
Featured in these shots are my favorite people:
My eldest daughter soaking up the warm rays of the setting sun.
My youngest warmly hugging her sister against the mirrored water.
My wife alongside our daughter — moments of genuine warmth, support, and love.
In the background, ducks were calmly swimming around, adding a natural rhythm to the scenery.
First Impressions of 4K Video & High-Res Shots
Switching to a new camera and capturing in 4K resolution brings a completely different feel to the process. The level of fine detail — from strands of hair backlit by the sun to gentle ripples on the water — is truly impressive. Color rendering during sunset turned out very natural and rich.
The field test was a success: not only did we get warm photos for our family archive, but we also gathered plenty of inspiration for the upcoming competition.
