On Friday this week Utah is going to start with phase 1 of their reopening plans.
One of the first operations that will be returning to normal soon is the Utah DMV which is expected to offer lobby service after weeks of drive-up service only. That will start back up on Friday for several of their branches.
The governor of Utah had issued an executive order for the state recently which will initiate the first phase of ending the lockdown and reopening business around the region.
Officials in the state claim that because of everyone staying home and businesses being closed that it has helped healthcare workers and hospitals etc, to be able to build up their PPE supplies, and because of that they will be looking to relax some rules.
Although they will be making moves to open businesses though, officials have cautioned that it will still be some time yet before we see more 'normal' like we might have been used to before everything closed.
Once they start to reopen and they do not see a surge in cases then they will continue with the plan, which is the same thing that other jurisdictions have also said.
They are still urging people to maintain distance and wear face coverings when they go outside to do business and engage with others. Officials claim that they cannot go "from 0 to 100" in making rapid changes right away, and they warn that anyone who feels sick still needs to stay at home and isolate themselves. Businesses might be set to reopen but there will still be some drastic changes in place as far as distancing and cleaning expectations now.
