It wouldn't be surprising if that recent cannabis news on the OSU study this week ended up fueling a lot of new cannabis purchases.

Not that this market needs any help, as they are still breaking cannabis sales records in the U.S.

Sales are growing rapidly, in areas like Michigan and around other regions.

In Michigan they were able to close out the year for cannabis in a big way by having over $135 million in recreational cannabis sales.

Along with that over $100 million+ for recreational there was also over $33 million for medicinal cannabis purchases as well. That is just in one region where between $150-200 million cannabis sales have been seen in just one month.

In other areas like Illinois they are also seeing growth in cannabis sales.

They were able to see their cannabis sales in Illinois double to over $1 billion for the year of 2021.

For that cannabis market this is a huge jump in sales. This is up from over $600+ million the previous year.

Still, there are problems in the market with one of them being heavy taxation. A number of cannabis businesses in places like California have increasingly called out that discrimination in taxation on the industry, suggesting that if something wasn't done about the problem that it might mean the industry would suffer greatly.

But as you can see from the sales for cannabis shops that this is bringing in billions of dollars around the country to already arguably over bloated governments, that have demonstrated they A) aren't good at making the best use of other people's money, and B) can't effectively balance a budget and spend reasonably. Meaningful reform on this front isn't very likely, especially if they don't hear from more companies within the industry on this issue, and from community members around the country who want to see a change.

In some regions people are paying taxes that are sometimes 400 percent higher than taxes linked with other industries, without justification for this seeming discrimination on businesses in one of the biggest and most successful industries in the country.
