There is a new controversial tolling objective in New York that allegedly looks to charge $15 tolls for "congestion pricing" during certain times when drivers might travel to popular areas, certain regions of Manhattan for example.
How can we reduce transportation activities in this area? ... Charge more money seems to be the repeated go-to.
But this sort of fee could easily impact many hard-working low and middle class Americans, going to this area on a regular basis then and driving could become much more expensive in a short amount of time depending on how frequent someone might visit the region.
Political representatives have suggested that this sort of approach with congestion pricing is "critical" to their vision for the future. How much worse and widespread will such an idea get? Will we see many cities around the US soon start to do the same as they go looking for more money?...
The justification is allegedly to booster support for mass transit but it could mean that eventually only those who can afford to pay the tolls are going to be more likely to travel to the area at certain times.
