The officer involved in the George Loyd case has recently been arrested and has been charged with 3rd degree murder.

If convicted he could face up to 25 years behind bars.

There are some who have faced more time than that behind bars for having a joint in their pocket, or for other victimless crimes.

Will there be a conviction?

They will likely be looking to pursue justice on this as quickly as they can, with various authority figures already calling for investigations and arrests to be made. They want to appease the crowds and get those investigations underway, they already are.

No word yet on the other officers and if they too will be arrested just the same.

over 100 businesses have been destroyed

In the recent riots that have taken place there are more than 100 businesses that have been destroyed, many of them small businesses. This adds to their difficulty that many were experiencing with COVID-19 economic downturn prior to this situation unfolding.

There is a lot of emotion seen here in destroying the community and not much sense. When you get a bunch of angry people together in a group it doesn't take long for things to potentially escalate.

Did they know each other?

This officer allegedly had a history of complaints when it comes to his alleged abuse of power, and he had already used his weapon in the line of duty on at least two people.

In less than 20 years on the force he managed to rack up over a dozen complaints.

Maybe he has a problem with rage and maintaining a level of professionalism while on duty???? The system is all too quick to cover up and excuse this sort of pattern of behavior when it should be seeking it out and purging it from the system in order to protect the community. Those sorts of actors are liabilities to the agencies they are hired to serve and they threaten their communities.

There are also allegations that the officer in question, pictured above, might have known Floyd or met him before, because they reportedly had previously worked together while doing security at a club in the same city. It will be interesting to find out if that gets mentioned in the criminal proceedings against the officer who has now been arrested and what the outcome of those charges might be. Will this be enough to calm some of the chaos that has been ongoing? Maybe not, seeing as many are also calling for other charges to be made against the remaining officers that had been involved as well.
