If they can take the time to tie up their pet to a tree and leave them on the side of the road, or drop off a kitten randomly on the highway, or abandon their dog in the park, then you would think they would have the time to bring it to a safe location at least so that the animal is with people who can care for it.
An increase in pet dumping has prompted concern from authorities and animal advocates lately as inflation is now said to be another reason pushing people to abandon their pets because they cannot afford to take care of them any longer.
It is unfortunate but it is happening and inflation is now impacting animal shelters they say as more people look to drop off their pets.
The worst scenario is animal abandonment cases.
Animal advocates say this is just an ignorant move because there are resources out there to access that can help. Even for those who might not want to abandon their pet fully but who might need help getting food or medication, certain procedures etc, there are a wide range of animal welfare projects and resources out there to find.
Not only is inflation already causing some to consider giving up their pet because they cannot afford it but it is also standing in the way of some families opting to choose a pet to adopt as well. Some might be nervous about the cost involved and worried about how inflation might impact that in the future.
In cases of serious neglect and animal abandonment there has been widespread outrage and we have seen worldwide calls for justice, with many calling for such animal abusers to face penalties. There seems to be no shortage of support around the world from people who are willing to help those animals in need, it is just a matter of connecting them with the animals who need it.
