The hoverbike went viral when a Japan-based company unveiled the $680k+ product not long ago.
How much work might it take to convince riders to swap from their cars to something a little more futuristic.
Even if they want to, how many can afford one at that price?
They are reportedly looking to have it manufactured by the middle of this year.
However, there is a long way to go before communities around the world are going to be open to this sort of innovation and change.
There are still restrictions on ride-sharing services, electric scooters, drones, and other innovations, and it will similarly be an uphill battle for the hoverbikes. We might never see them for passenger travel as we do cars, but they could provide a great deal of value in certain travel circumstances or emergency situations etc.
The maker behind the hoverbike is preparing for IPO in Japan too and they've already started taking orders for the bike.
There was a hope of having around 200 units produced by this year for a limited-edition run.
Is there going to be that much demand?
At first we can expect it will be limited when flying the device to only using it when operating around race tracks though, and you won't be seeing it flying on the road beside you of course, even in Japan. That is still years away if that ever does become fully realized as a transportation option for the market and the masses.
