As the border has been closed for non-essential travel between the United States and Canada for quite some time now, roughly 80 percent of the pedestrian and vehicle traffic to the Blaine, Washington region has declined.

Right now, Blaine has been described as a sort of ghost town as a result, it usually sees a great deal of its business from travelers that are coming across the border.

To try and fuel some business, gas stations in the area are even giving away free milk to draw customers in.

Millions of Canadians are used to traveling to the United States regularly. Especially in the Blaine area, many will come down for cheaper gas and other goods, but right now they don't need to go anywhere for cheap gas of course.

The U.S.-Canada border was scheduled to reopen next week but the closure has been extended.

The restrictions have been pushed for another 30 days now.

With some other regions and big businesses starting to make the move to open up in the coming weeks, this might be the last time that the border restrictions are extended and hopefully after those 30 days they can start to adjust and return to embracing the flow of travel across the line.
