Are we shocked? This has been an ongoing trend for years now with the institutions worldwide, as more people have educated themselves, shared valuable information thanks to the internet, and started to question mainstream sources and institutions that might not have their best interest at heart.

According to one recent survey it looks like the pandemic has further eroded trust in experts and elected leaders with many of the public.

It shows that there is a wide gap between those members of the public who think authority figures did a perfect and standup job in their positions of power, and those who are concerned with what they just witnessed and went through.

Trust in institutions has been eroding for years different reports have suggested as much, and the pandemic further pushed that along, awakening more to the possibility that things might not be as they seem.

Can you really blame the skeptics too harshly? After all, history has demonstrated on numerous occasion that harm can come to the people and it has even from the most respectable of places, those in positions of power.

Other research on the topic shows that American's aren't just losing trust in government and institutions but they are also losing trust in their fellow Americans.

Questioning Everything

Trust has declined for media, businesses, government reps, NGOs too.

But perhaps instead of questioning why people are losing trust in these institutions, maybe we should be asking what sort of results the people have been getting that might push them in this direction?
