Since COVID-19 first became a big issue back in the beginning of the year, cannabis businesses have been seeing a surge in sales all around the country. In some cases they had been forced to close their doors, while others were deemed an essential service. Many still maintained their online operations and pick-up options or even had delivery for some regions.

In places like Illinois and other regions, they are still seeing strong sales for all things cannabis.

Since the beginning of 2020 alone, Illinois has seen more than $300 million in sales. Colorado hit a record sales high in May at almost $200 million and that made their biggest month since their recreational sales first began back in 2014.

One of the biggest reasons that people turn to using cannabis is to help them cope with their stress and depression, and studies have shown that there might be something to it.

While some suggest that there is still no evidence to support using cannabis to help with depression or anxiety there are millions who are still doing it.

For both cannabis and just CBD too, one of the most popular reasons that people report using the substance is to help them seek some sort of remedy from their anxiety or stress.

Trying to cope with stress from COVID-19

Millions of people have just recently lost their jobs, been forced to stay away from loved ones for months, and are going through one of the most difficult times that they have ever faced. There is plenty of political turmoil ongoing as well, spilling out onto the streets and plastered across social media every single day.

These days, people might be more stressed than they have ever been because of COVID-19 and everything that's gone along with it. If there is something natural, like cannabis and CBD, that can offer some help to people then they should have every right to explore it.

With the way that cannabis sales have been exploding over the past few months it's clear that people are either increasing their consumption habits or more people are getting into the market for the first time, or both. Yet still, there are many states that have yet to relax their criminalization of this plant and that is progress that still desperately needs to be made.
